This guide explains how to play Ragnarök Online natively on Linux using Wine. The instructions are intended for Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine), but they should be easy to adapt to any Linux distribution.
wget -N -nv https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/winehq.key && \
sudo apt-key add winehq.key
sudo apt-add-repository "deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ $(lsb_release -cs) main" && \
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable ttf-mscorefonts-installer
wget -N -nv https://cosmix.uk/scripts/wine-application-installer.sh && \
bash wine-application-installer.sh ro international-standard
To erase all of the files created by Wine, including the Ragnarök Online client and its configuration, enter the following in Terminal:
rm -rf ~/.wine && \
find ~/.{cache,config,local} \
-regextype posix-egrep \
\( \
\( -type d -regex '.+/(wine|winetricks)' \) -o \
\( -type f -regex '.+/(application-x-wine-extension|wine|x-wine)-[^/]+\.(desktop|directory|menu|png|xml)' \) \
\) \
-exec rm -rf {} +
To uninstall Wine, its dependencies, and TrueType Core Fonts for the Web, enter the following in Terminal:
sudo apt-get --auto-remove purge winehq-stable ttf-mscorefonts-installer
To remove Wine's APT repository, enter the following in Terminal:
sudo apt-add-repository --remove https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ && \
sudo apt-key del F987672F
Unfortunately, the following regional versions of the Ragnarök Online client are not compatible with Wine because they incorporate anti-cheating software such as CheatDefender, Easy Anti-Cheat, GameGuard, or Hackshield:
